Peggi's Story
Peggi's Dressings is a journey I began while eating a Caesar salad at a dinner party my husband and I attended over 30 years ago. As I sat in my chair eating my dinner, my mind was experimenting with the ingredients I was tasting in the salad dressing our host had served to us.
I found myself wondering how the dressing might taste if it had a little more of "this," a little less of "that," add some of "this," eliminate "that." I could not wait to get home to experiment with ingredients and develop my very own Caesar dressing. I had no appreciation at the time, however, that those few hours I spent eating dinner that evening would change my life forever.
I initially developed the Caesar Classic as a homemade dressing alternative to the Caesar dressings offered at our local grocery stores. My recipe is a creamy and delightful dressing that doubles as an incredible marinade for proteins including chicken, steak, and fish - especially salmon. We even get feedback from folks that they use it as a vegetable dip!
But, as most mothers will attest to, the most significant indication that I had created something wonderful was the fact that my young sons would eat it! And, now more than 30 years later, my boys make this family recipe fresh at home regularly for their family and friends.
After serving the Caesar Classic and a variety of other homemade dressings at a few dinner parties involving our friends and family, I was encouraged to begin selling my homemade products commercially. Our first commercial sale was more than 25 years ago!
Until recently, Peggi's Dressings products have been sold and distributed to local Cincinnati grocers and restaurants. One restaurant in particular has been using Caesar Classic as its Caesar dressing for over 20 years. With all of this success, we are excited to announce that we have been working with larger grocery chains to bring Peggi's Dressings to a store near you!
I would like to thank my loving and patient family and many friends for encouraging and supporting me throughout this journey. A willingness to experiment and to never fear changing a recipe are elements to the success of Peggi's Dressings, but the support of family and friends has been paramount.
